a few weeks ago my poor dad gave us a huge scare and ended up in the hospital for over a week. so many emotions go though you when things go up and down or not the way your were hoping for. my dad has had ongoing issues with his platelet count, an average person has about 150,000 to 300,000. this particular incident he ended up with 2000. so low that bleeding was occurring through his nose and mouth, SCARY, because without the platelets your blood wont clot ect. the first few days of treatment didnt work, it would bring his count up a 1000 then back down. the dr's decided to remove his spleen, YAY, however, huge risk considering he cant clot on his own and could bleed out during surgery if complications arise. usually to even consider the surgery your platelet levels need to be at a min of 90,000. he went in with 4,000. to say i was scared is a complete understatement, but with support from my amazing family, friends, and the greatest man above who defiantly heard my prayers, my dad made it... his surgery took a little over 5 {LONG} hours, and had a spleen 5 times its size.pretty crazy. so now all is well in lacayo land, and hopefully this has solved his ongoing problem.  Love you dad!!!
